Gynecomastia Treatment in Lahore

At age of 12 to 14 years breast size in male enlarges which regress most of the time until adulthood. It is self-limiting in most of cases.Underlying hormonal imbalance is the cause in most patients. In adult patients certain medical conditions may be associated with Gynecomastia. Sometimes liver, pituitary, kidney, adrenal disease can be the cause of Gynecomastia in men. Man boob enlargement can also occur due to use of certain medications like anabolic steroids, antiepileptic, antihypertensive, antacid medications.

Gynecomastia is divided into different grades from grade 1 to grade 4 depending upon size and nature of disease. Grade 4 In severe cases massive enlargement of male breast skin and tissue looks like female breast.

When Gynecomastia is diagnosed underlying cause if present should be ruled out and treated. If patient is taking any medication responsible for Gynecomastia it should be stopped and replaced. Surgical treatment of Gynecomastia depends on the type of Gynecomastia. Patient may have more fatty component which is addressed by Liposuction only. If the patient has also gland under the nipple it should be broken and delivered by small incision. Initial grade 1 or 2 gynecomastia can be managed by removal of excess fat and gland only. In grade 3 and grade 4 gynecomastia excess skin may need to be removed along with gland.

Duration of Gynecomastia surgery depend on type of Gynecomastia. If only fatty tissue present liposuction for Gynecomastia takes one to one and half hour time only.Gynecomastia with fatty and glandular component need removal of gland with small incision along with liposuction for fatty component which takes ninety minutes to two hours.

Foe gynecomastia patients with grade 1 or 2 one can go home same evening after surgery staying 4 to 6 hours in hospital. For advanced grade gynecomastia one day stay may be needed in the hospital.

There is mild pain after Gynecomastia surgery which is managed effectively by analgesics. Patients take pain medication for 5 to 7 days which keep patient comfortable.

Patient can be discharged on same day of surgery from hospital. After three days patient can resume normal daily activities. After gynecomastia surgery patient is advised oral antibiotics and pain killer for 7 days. Removal of sutures is done after after 7 to 8 days. Exercise of other body areas than chest can be resumed after 2 weeks. Lifting weights and outdoor sternuous exercise avoided for first 4 to 6 weeks. Normal gym exercise resumed after 6 weeks when healing is complete. Compression garments are advised for 6 to 8 weeks. It makes patient comfortable by reducing swelling after liposuction

Hematoma due to bleeding after surgery can present as localized swelling and bruising. Small hematoma settle itself large hematoma need aspiration or drainage. Incision for Gynecomastia is limited to the borders of areola which can be combined by another very small incision in the axillae. These small incisions results in very small invisible scar. Is gynecomastia surgery a safe procedure?

Gynecomastia treatment is a day case procedure. Patient leaves hospital walking same day resume activities after 2 days rest. If only liposuction done for gynecomastia then on 3th Post operative day activities can be resumed. If surgical removal of glands also done 8 to 10 days are needed after surgery till one resume normal activities.
